Welcome to the home page of SRK Science and Technology Research aka Sun Ripened Kernels (or just 'SRK' or 'sunrk')!

Sun Ripened Kernels closed down as a commercial business operation from January 1, 2007. Commercial trading through Ebay ceased from September 2006, and the SRK Ebay store has been closed down also. I am still trading on Ebay in a personal capacity only (see below).

I am still able to source, supply (and optionally program) NVRAM's to suit all Sun4c and Sun4m class systems (ask for current pricing - tends to fluctuate) and I'll try to continue sourcing Ultraspec products on a per-request basis.

The cessation of the commercial business will allow me a lot more time to devote to my family along with freeing up time to focus on other computer related things such as my SunShack website (celebrating 10 years in 2007!), and involvement with APANA and the Saab Car Club of Australia!

Pacific Internet is a business run by corporate criminals from Asia who extort money from legitimate Australian individuals and businesses under the false pretence of providing internet and communications services when the company has no intention of providing basic customer service to it's clients. DO NOT DEAL WITH PACIFIC INTERNET - THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!

Bit of background for those who aren't sure what's happened... The turning point leading to the fundamental decision to wind back (and finally shut down) SRK came during a day in early November 2004 when the frustrations vented via the destruction of a pile of SS4/5 bases that had been sitting around for almost 12 months and had become iconic of the problems I've been having trying to juggle my family, my work and my own interests. The house doesn't have enough space to store items such as system units, monitors, etc. with my four young children requiring more space to learn and grow.

Thanks to everyone who's supported me since 1996 when I kicked off the business. Instrumental in the hard road to having to make the final decision to change the focus of the business is that I've have incurred a very big loss (like almost my whole year's salary from RailCorp [I'm a train driver in my regular full-time job]) over the last two financial years, despite generating significant profits in previous years before that, and my family has been suffering emotionally and financially...

SRK may come back to being an almost full-time operation in the future, though my family has to come first!
